Why Might You Need to Go Private?

Orthodontic treatment under the NHS is free for individuals under 18 if recommended by their dentist. However, NHS orthodontics is generally not offered for adults, who typically opt for private orthodontic care.

Additionally, NHS orthodontics is limited to traditional metal braces for those eligible.

Benefits of Private Orthodontic Treatment

  • No waiting lists for treatments

  • Access to a wider range of braces, including more discrete options

  • More flexibility with appointment times (evenings and weekends)

  • Adults can be treated as well as children over the age of 7

  • Longer, more personal appointments

  • Plus, all the other benefits of orthodontics such as fixing protruding teeth, crooked teeth or gaps between your teeth

The price of braces depends on the type chosen and the complexity and length of treatment. For an exact quote, book a consultation with one of our orthodontists.

One concern some patients have when considering adult braces is how to afford the cost of the treatment. At Hampstead Orthodontic Practice, we understand this, and have created a variety of flexible 0% finance options, that can be split into monthly or quarterly payments.

The practice is also open until later on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, to make things more convenient for those who find it difficult to take time off work.

FAQs for those thinking about getting private orthodontic treatment:

How long does private orthodontic treatment typically take?

The duration of private orthodontic treatment varies depending on the complexity of the case and the chosen treatment method. On average, treatment can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Your orthodontist will provide a more accurate estimate after evaluating your specific needs.

Are there different types of braces available for private orthodontic treatment?

Yes, our private orthodontic treatment offers a variety of braces options. These include traditional metal braces, ceramic braces (which are tooth-coloured and less noticeable), lingual braces (placed on the back of the teeth), or clear aligners such as Invisalign.

Can adults receive private orthodontic treatment?

Absolutely! Private orthodontic treatment is available for both children and adults. Age is not a limitation for seeking orthodontic care, and many adults choose to undergo treatment to improve their smile and oral health.

What does private orthodontic treatment cost?

The cost of private orthodontic treatment can vary depending on several factors, including the complexity of the case, the type of treatment needed, the region or country where the treatment is being provided, and the specific orthodontic practice. It’s important to consult directly with our orthodontist in the London practice to get an accurate cost estimate.

Do braces hurt?

Discomfort may occur during the fitting and adjustment of your braces, but it’s usually temporary, and you should adapt to it soon. If any discomfort persists, consult your dentist or orthodontist.
